Set in the heart of Snowdonia’s national park in North Wales the Dolawen centre is ideally placed to make use of this country’s mountainous and rocky landscapes.

Follow the A5 towards Bangor. Approximately 8 miles after Capel Curig turn left into a small lane. Follow the small lane, take the left fork and cross the bridge. If you reach the Ogwen Bank Caravan Park you have gone too far. Turn around and Dolawen is now on the right, approximately 200m after the Ogwen Bank Caravan Park. Follow the small lane, take the left fork and cross the bridge.

Accommodation

The centre comprises of 2 dormitory style rooms and a large communal kitchen and dining area, each dormitory has toilets and showers with plenty of hot water and drying rooms, the views from the windows look out upon one of the region’s largest and deepest valleys the “Nant Francon” where the river after falling around 900m from the peaks above us flows through the centres own fields.

The teachers and leaders cottage is adjoined to the main centre and comprises of male and female rooms a teachers’ lounge with open fire and a small but adequate kitchen, two showers and bathroom. Wi Fi can be accessed on request.

Equipment

We have a kit store that provides all necessary equipment for activities and in addition water proofs, day sacs, water bottles and boots for your students although we do advise students to bring their own boots for comforts sake.

Food

Catering is taken care of by our staff although we actively ask for student’s participation where appropriate in cooking and involve them in meal duties that consist of laying tables clearing away and washing up. Specific dietary requirements can be catered for as long as we have notice of this at time of booking. Lunch is generally a packed lunch that is made by the student’s for themselves each morning albeit  supervised by staff.
